8
Meeqat

8th Dhul-Hijjah: Assuming the Ihrām at the Meeqāt

The Ihrām is the state a pilgrim enters at the Meeqāt, during which specific actions and certain types of clothing become prohibited. The Meeqāt refers to a designated location where one is required to assume Ihrām before beginning either 'Umrah or Hajj.

Before noon: Move from Makkah to Minā.

9
Arafat

9th Dhul-Hijjah: Day of 'Arafah

After sunrise: move from Minā to 'Arafah. The pilgrim, if able, stops at Namirah near 'Arafah to listen to the sermon, then performs Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers combined at Dhuhr time with one Adhān and two Iqāmahs.

He remains in 'Arafah for the rest of the day in worship, making du'ā and dhikr after the prayers. If possible, he stands on the rocks beneath the Mount of Mercy, facing the Qiblah—not the mountain—raising his hands in supplication and reciting the Talbiyah.
